Our History
Waynedale Elementary School is named for the neighborhood in which it is located. It has long had a special focus on biophysical education with biophysical activities integrated with academics.
The present-day school was built in 1971 on the same site as the second Waynedale Elementary built in 1917, and the original Wayne Township school, known as School #8. The first principal was John J. Johnson. Waynedale is a Title I school and offers the English Language Learners program (ELL). Students from Waynedale feed into Miami Middle School, Portage Middle School, and Wayne High School. The school is located in the Board of School Trustees District 5.
